Meditation Mondays: Seeking Answers

Every single day we are faced with hundreds of decisions to make. Some are routine and as easy as choosing your breakfast or what to wear (okay agreed, that’s not always simple), and some are more massive and potentially life altering. Maybe you're wondering if now’s the time to start your business, leave your job, hire the coach, bring a new employee onto your team, clean up your diet, move to a new city, publish that blog post, or start your new meditation practice (nudge nudge). Of course, when it comes to the bigger decisions it’s natural for us to talk to our go-to circle or mentors for advice and input, but too often we use this as a distraction for fear of making the “wrong” choice. We can go back and forth a million times and spend a lot of unnecessary time obsessing, but ultimately we’re either forgetting or not trusting that deep within we already have the answers we seek. So how do we get these answers? We have to quiet our minds enough to hear them. This week’s meditation is a great one to use for developing your intuition and calming your mind. Either sit on the floor in a cross legged position (easy pose) or if that's uncomfortable for you simply sit in a chair with both feet on the floor and straighten your spine. Place the 4 fingers of your right hand on your left wrist to feel your pulse. Your fingers should be in a straight line and pressed lightly on the wrist in order to feel your pulse in your fingertips. Close your eyes and gently focus up in between your eyebrows (your third eye point). With each beat of your pulse say (in your mind) the mantra, “Sat Nam” which means truth identified. Do this meditation daily for 1,3,7,11 minutes (I use my phone timer to keep track). Keep in mind that your experience in meditation is unique to you. There may be days when you have an aha moment immediately following or during a meditation, which is awesome, but that won’t always be the case. The thing to remember is that we can’t control how or when we receive information, but we can stay committed to the practice of quieting our minds and trust that what we need is on its way. I promise that the more often you do these short meditations and the more you integrate them into your daily routine, the sharper your intuition will be and the more you’ll open up to creative solutions, ideas, and healing. Happy Meditating! With Love & Gratitude, Melody
